Categories in SAM are structured around Inventory types. There are four broad Inventory types: Artwork, Edition, Product and Other.
SAM organises the 4 Inventory types into Parent Categories. These are shared across each Art Centre.
Beneath Parent Categories are Subcategories. These are unique to your Art Centre.
Some Parent Categories are seen across the 4 Inventory Types. For example, Jewellery is a Parent Category in both Artwork and Product. This allows the Art Centre to either catalogue a unique item as an Artwork, or set Jewellery items up as Products if this is more suitable for inventory management.
