- Draft Sale - you can always cancel
- Receipt - you have to refund. You can't cancel once a payment is on a Receipt and there is always a payment as it is done straight away.
- Invoice - if there are no payments then you can 'cancel'. Once there is a payment you have to pay in full and then 'Refund'
Lay-by - you always have to Refund as there is always a first payment
Once you have Refunded it creates a 'credit memo' and they effectively cancel each other out - the sale and refund. So in the books/exports it will show the credit memo.
