Working together
Getting your store online requires a partnership between Art centre, SAM and Web developer. All the new systems need to work together, hence the need to have checks and agreements in place.
The Process - Getting your website up and running
Test first (UAT), then switch to live (PROD) and repeat the checks.
Step 1: Sign API services agreement
-
Contact your web developer/designer to help connect SAM to your website.
- Email your art centre and developer details (name, business, email, phone) to help@sam.org.au. Say if you’ll use a custom build, Defyn plugin, or Desart SAM plugin.
- SAM will send API services agreement for both you and your developer to sign.
- After signing, your developer gets access to set up the API and connect your website.
- If using the Desart SAM plugin, an order form will be sent to your art centre.
Step 2: Art centre onboarded to New Sam
- Art centres onboarded to New SAM
- Staff complete training
- Setup of New SAM.
- Data freeze - Art centres liaise with web developer whether to keep their online store active over this period
- Art centre Go live
Step 3: Test (UAT)
Get Test Access (UAT)
Web developer/designer emails help@sam.org.au with:
- Art Centre name
- Dev Contact name
- Unique email (for API access)
- Environment: UAT (test)
If using webhooks include:
- Webhook URL
- Public key
Receive test logins (UAT)
- API (back end) https://apiv3.sam.org.au/
- SAM (front end) https://uat.symbuild.com.au/
Set up & Test (UAT)
- Install plugin or custom build connection (get help if needed).
- Connect plugin to the UAT API using your API login.
- Sync artworks to the test site.
Check:
- Artworks, artists, images, prices display correctly
- Data matches SAM
Do test sales and confirm:
- Orders appear in SAM
- Customer and item details are correct
- Payments and stock updates work
- Get approval from the art centre.
Step 4: Go Live(PROD)
Get Live Access (PROD)
- Web dev email help@sam.org.au with:
- Art Centre name
- Contact name
- Unique email
- Environment: PROD (Live)
- Website domain + public IP
If using webhooks include:
- Webhook URL
- Public key
Evidence of successful testing (screenshots, sale numbers etc.)
Confirmation from Art centre to go live
Receive Live logins (PROD)
- API (back end) https://apiv3.sam.org.au/
- SAM (front end) https://new.sam.org.au/ (art centre already has these)
Go Live
- Delete test (UAT) data.
- Update plugin/connection to use PROD API.
- Sync LIVE (PROD) artworks, products, editions and artists.
Test again:
- Check display (images, prices, etc.)
- Do a final test sale (that can be reversed)
That’s it—test first (UAT), then switch to live (PROD) and repeat the checks.
