When you add photos of products to SAM, the size and type of the file are very important. This ensures the system stays fast for everyone.
Image Rules
- File Types: Use JPG or PNG only.
- Max File Size: 25MB per photo.
- Our Recommendation: Use photos under 1MB.
- When to use LARGE photos (5mb+): Only upload very high-resolution, large files for special products that need to be published or printed in high quality.
Why use small photos?
Internet in remote communities can be slow.
- Faster Loading: Small photos open quickly so you can get your work done.
- Saving Data: Large photos take a long time to upload and use up your internet data.
- No Freezing: If photos are too big, SAM might feel "stuck" or slow.
How to make photos smaller (Compressing)
If you don't have professional software like Photoshop or Lightroom, use these easy (and free) tools:
1. Use a Website (Easiest)
- Go to Squoosh.app or TinyJPG.com
- Drag your photo onto the website.
- It will "squash" the file for you.
- Download the new, smaller photo and upload that one to SAM.
2. Use "Paint" (Windows Computers)
- Open your photo in Paint.
- Click Resize at the top.
- Change the percentage from 100 to 50.
- Save As a JPG.
3. Use "Preview" (Mac Computers)
- Open the photo in Preview.
- Go to the 'Tools' menu and click 'Adjust Size'.
- Type in a smaller width (like 1600 pixels).
- Save the file.
Summary
Think small! Always try to get your photos under 1MB. It keeps SAM fast for you and your team.
